Paintings by Jane Lewis - oil to water and back again Ceramics by Caroline Fish - lively gestural painted earthenware Jane Lewis, working from her studio at her home in Suffolk, is a painter whose abstract work often shows strong reference to the landscape. She believes in the underlying importance and discipline of regular observational drawing - in her case largely life drawing. She works in both oils and watercolour and has recently been elected an Associate Member of the Royal Watercolour Society (ARWS). Caroline Fish also works in Suffolk and is interested in the lines and shapes within landscape, and also the way the natural and manmade interact; for instance how a telegraph wire can slice across your view. She uses the warmth and softness of red earthenware clay and the potential it offers for painted decoration. Building up slips and glaze in layers adds depth and colour, allowing the subtlety of the clay to show through.
