Melting Point: bronze casting workshop at Cuckoo Farm Studios led by London Sculpture Workshop15th June
A Bronze Casting project run by the London Sculpture Workshop in conjunction with Cuckoo Farm Studios. The project will be accompained by a series of talks and an exhibition open to the general public held at Benham Gallery at Cuckoo Farm Studios, Colchester.
Over seven days participants will be shown how to make a bronze sculpture from the initial wax-process to the final bronze sculpture. We will create an exhibition of the work made and also of the processes involved in the week’s activity that will be open to the general public.
Throughout the project there will be small taster sessions for the participants around the theme of casting e.g low melt alloys casting. There will be a series of talks on bronze casting & associated processes by artists and practitioners that will be open to the general public. The main event will be the live pour and burn out which will take place at night for maximum visual impact. Once the bronzes are cast and finished they will then be added to the exhibition. The exhibition will then be open to the general public for a further week. During this week-long exhibition further talks and open-forums will be scheduled.
Camping is available on-site for a minimal charge.
