Alison Stockmarr

Materials-led artist working in salvage, currently making 'Face Books'.
Described as a 'latter-day borrower', Stockmarr's work has an ethos of reusing and recycling at its heart. As a materials-led artist she seeks out overlooked objects, puts them under scrutiny, and reinvents them into visual delights that are distilled into scenarios alluding to the past, with a playful nod to the present. 'Face Books' is a collection of work poking fun at social media. By matching old photographs with suitably titled books, profiles are constructed, creating a library of invented friends of yesteryear. Apertures are cut into books, with photographs and ephemera collaged within their pages. Appropriate, and sometimes inappropriate, narratives are composed to complete the picture! She hopes you 'like' them.
