Flisan Beard

I am a multimedia artist exploring psychological issues such as flash backs and nightmares ‘haunting’ and the activation of memory. My art practice looks at a wide array of artistic relationships to memory association, repetition and reappearance, as well as forms of ‘active’ forgetting. Trauma is my subject.
My art practice is experiential, experimental and reflective. Taboo subjects are often explored in narrative through playfulness and dark humour. I use found objects, photography, film, traditional art media as well as contemporary. People, environment, psycho geographic work, site specific, installation all fits in my interest of relational dynamics. Further I am a state Registered Art Psychotherapist working in Hospice care, Mental health and Education. Neuroscience and Art is my research.
